Major contract variation awarded on Class 318 C6

Hunslet-Barclay has now concluded development of a major scope modification to the Class 318 contract awarded in January. The variation covers passenger and driver enhancements such as, PIS, Interior Upgrade, revised Cab Layout, refurbished floors, sets etc.

Class 318 C6 contract award

Hunslet-Barclay has been awarded the contract to overhaul 21 Class 318 Multiple Units. The contract will commence immediately with the first vehicle due on works in the spring. The scope of works will be further developed and is likely to include significant passenger amenity uprgrades.

New Projects Manager

Stephen McCall has joined the company in the position of Projects Manager. Stephen, an Engineering Graduate of Glasgow University has held similar position in the Worldwide Gas Turbine Overhaul and Maintenance business. This appointment will strengthen the organisation and position it for the expected increase in workload.

Rail Grinder Bogie change

Hunslet-Barclay’s Kilmarnock facility was able to respond quickly to the needs of the industry by providing the capacity necessary to carry out the bogie change. Opportunities were also taken to carry out other outstanding work. This work was taken on at very short notice and demonstrates the flexibility and capability of the Kilmarnock facility.

New Operations Manager

Paul McDonald has joined Hunslet-Barclay as Operations Manager. Paul is an experienced Manufacturing and Operations Manager with a degree in Manufacturing and Production Engineering from Strathclyde University. Paul joins from Artex Rawlplug and brings with him skills of a high volume produced into the more traditional rail industry

Class 318 C6x Preferred Bidder Status

Hunslet-Barclay have been selected as the preferred bidder on the above contract by HSBC. The details are still being finalised but will build on the successful work done by Hunslet-Barclay for HSBC on the recently completed C6X programme on the Class 320 fleet.
